TRAVELLING DAYS

The past couple of weeks have been full of a variety of activities.  We've played a few rounds of golf and during one of them, Stuart’s pull cart broke in half and he had to carry his bag the rest of the way.  Back at home he was able to fix it temporarily which was a good thing.  We also had quite a few pickleball games with various couples and Stuart took a tumble during one game and bruised his ribs.  He rolled on the fall, which was a smart thing to do, but he’s been sore since then so we haven’t played any games.

We took one of our regular trips to Colville for grocery shopping just after Labour Day and thought you’d enjoy some of the photos from our trip.  Colville is a nice little town and we’ve grown very fond of its amenities.

Earlier this week, we made a quick trip to Creston to visit my Dad.  He had contracted pneumonia and was responding well to the antibiotics, but it was a good time to go rather than waiting for our planned trip at the end of the month.  Then on Wednesday, we decided to go to Kelowna to return Stuart’s broken cart to Costco and to use a gift card we had received at Christmas at White Spot for lunch.  It takes about 2.5 hours to get to Kelowna and we spent a few hours doing some basic shopping.  We avoided the big shopping mall and focused on items that we need such as a power head for the vacuum in the trailer.  We have a small air driven head that works all right but doesn’t deliver enough suction to thoroughly clean the carpet.  The new head should be much better.

Yesterday, we went fishing to Marshall Lake which is at the height of land between Grand Forks and Greenwood.  We used our inflatable boat and had excellent success at fishing.  They started biting right away and we were able to catch 6 fish (each one about 9 inches long) and released 6 or more smaller fish.  We had a lot of fun out there watching them surface all around us and the fish we took home tasted really good for supper.

We went to the Grand Forks Fall Fair last Sunday and enjoyed looking at the displays and booths.  If our garden does well again next year, we may enter some of our vegetables in the fall fair competition.  Here’s a picture of a rose bud from our garden.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
