HOW DO BRUSSELS SPROUTS GROW?

We've never seen Brussels sprouts anywhere but in the grocery store so it was an interesting experiment to plant some this summer.  The plants are about 2 feet high and 2 feet wide with big grey-green leaves.  It took quite a while to figure out where the “sprouts” would grow:  not in amongst the leaves, but up the main stalk under the leaves.  Here are some photos:

The garden is flourishing right now and we thought you might enjoy other pictures.

The summer warm weather is still holding so we’ve been getting out to the golf course a couple of times a week, pickleball a couple of times as well and spent a day on Christina Lake last week.  It was still busy on the water with summer tourists but we went to our quiet fishing area and trolled for a few hours.  We had a couple of bites but no fish in the boat.  It was so nice and warm that we went swimming twice and the water was very refreshing.

A few days ago, we found out that we’ll be getting new neighbours in the house at the east side of our property.  The former owner passed away a year ago and her kids finally were able to sell the house.  They’ve been having yard sales and taking all sorts of items to the recycle place, the thrift store and the landfill.  A person certainly accumulates a lot of stuff in their lifetime.  The “old’ neighbour was very nice and we’re hoping the new ones are as well.  We had plans to build another section of fence along that side of the property so we hope they won’t be offended when we mention it to them.

More golf and pickleball scheduled for the rest of the week.  Ah, the good life.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
