TRIPPING OUT

Now that the fence is completed, we've had more time for recreational activities.  We played golf at Christina Lake, and again had a great time, even though we are a little bit rusty at the game.  It’s not easy to keep your skills honed when you only golf once every couple of months.  We’re thinking about buying a golf membership here next year, which will make it more affordable to play as well as give us an incentive to play more often.

We took the boat out on the lake one hot day and planned to sit in the middle of the lake, read and swim.  Well, we turned on the fish finder as we were exploring a new section of the lake and had so many fish beeps that we decided to troll for a while.  Stuart caught 2 fish even though we both had the same lures on our lines.  Guess it was just not my turn.  Here’s the happy gang.

On another warm day, we rode the motorcycle over to Trail to do some business at the Service Canada office and also made the usual visits to Walmart and Canadian Tire.  We took the road to Trail through Rossland and it was cool at the top near Red Mountain.  After shopping, we rode to Castlegar for lunch and then back home in the afternoon.  It was hot by the time we got to Christina Lake.  It was a nice day trip.

Last weekend, we drove to the Lower Mainland to attend our nephew’s wedding at Queen Elizabeth Park.  The weather was great, clear and sunny and quite hot for that area.  The ceremony was a beautiful event located in the Celebration Pavilion near the dancing water fountains in the plaza.  The bride was gorgeous and the groom looked pretty good, too.

The reception was held in the Seasons in the Park restaurant and it was very enjoyable.  The masters of ceremony for the reception were two of the bride’s friends and they did an amazing job of welcoming and entertaining everyone, especially the out of town guests.  They had props for each town represented like a plush toy salmon for Salmon Arm, a plastic mining truck for Sparwood and two handfuls of forks for Grand Forks.  Very original.  The food was elegantly plated and tasted delicious.  All in all, it was a very classy event.

Now we’re back home and doing odd jobs around here and slowly getting things prepared for heading south for the winter.  That’s only 5 weeks away—where has the summer gone?

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
