Well, there has been a lot going on in the past few weeks and it is just starting to settle down. My brother and I decided to sell our Dad’s house in Creston as he is now staying long term in an extended care facility in Creston. The real estate market is not very active in the Kootenays this summer but we were fortunate (blessed) to have a neighbour make a reasonable offer on the house and they were able to take possession on August 25. Of course, there were quite a few things to be done such as cleaning out all the personal items, selling some things and donating others to the local thrift store and the landfill. We got it all done in a few days and it was sad to say good-bye to the house where my brother and I both grew up.
I had a “run in” with a fever that lasted 6 days and had to go to the doctor to get antibiotics. He wasn’t sure what I had but the medication worked. One of the side effects of the antibiotics however was headaches that were almost worse than the fever. It’s not fun being sick when the weather is hot and sunny.
I had to send my passport away for renewal and it sure was nice to get it back within 15 days. We were ready for our monthly trip to Colville for groceries and were able to make the trip on Thursday. Sure do like saving money on meat, dairy products and fuel.
We have been working diligently on the fence and we’re proud to say that it is finished. The project went well at all stages and we are happy with the design and the end result. Here’s how it went.
BEFORE
FENCE POSTS (15 POSTS IN TOTAL)

FILLING IN WITH BOARDS (350 FENCE BOARDS)
COMPLETING THE FIRST PANEL
HALFWAY THERE

We enjoy looking out the windows at the fence and already appreciate the additional privacy and less highway noise. Now, we just have to think up a few big projects for next summer.
