We didn't use our hot tub
during the hot summer weather and as we were starting to winterize it, we
decided that we’d like to get rid of it and get a new one some day. It is an older model with a few issues (a
small leak, some jets that don’t work properly) and was here when we bought the
house. So we advertised it on Kijiji and
had it sold and out of here within a week.
A fellow from Castlegar brought a flat trailer and 2 friends to help
load the 800 pound hot tub. Of course, the day
that they came was the first rainy day since the end of July but they got the
job done quite quickly.
The weather this past week
has been warm and sunny so we decided that it was time to purchase our golf
memberships and play a few rounds. The
deal they have at Christina Lake Golf Club is free golf for new 2012 members in September
and October. All we had to pay is the
initiation fee and will pay the membership fee for next season in January. We played twice this week and had a great
time. Here are some photos of “our” golf course.
We’re still harvesting
veggies from the garden but had to cover some plants due to frost at
night. Our cucumber plants have some
frost damage but everything else is okay. We've been using tomatoes in most of our cooking and Stuart is going to
make cabbage rolls later today. We also
roasted 2 trays of Japanese eggplant yesterday and will be making Baba Ghannoush
with them (an eggplant puree similar to hummus).
We’re slowly getting things
ready for going south but are still enjoying our time at home and in the
community.
