HAIL STONES AND ROCKS

A few weeks ago, we had a series of thunderstorms that took the power out for 4 hours and one big rain and hailstorm that made a mess of the yard and garden.

Many of the plant leaves were damaged and the plants beaten down, but they have recovered.  I’ve trimmed the holey leaves as much as I could, and with the warmer weather everything is getting back to normal.

After we built the shed behind the shop, we wanted to clean up the ground between it and the back of the property.  We were keeping the weeds at bay by laying down old carpet but that was wearing out and looked unsightly.  We ordered a truck load of rock to spread over the area and it was a great idea.

First, we laid out sections of the old boat shelter cover to block the weeds and then spread on the rock.

Stuart worked hard to shovel and spread the rock out and I did some raking to make it even.  We have the main area covered now but there is still a large pile to use so it is a work in progress.

We also moved some of our rounder rock to the edge of the driveway and replaced it with the new rock which packs better on some of our walkways.

Everything else is going well, still golfing, gardening and small projects for Stuart.  Life is good at home.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
