GOOD TO BE HOME AGAIN

The trip home went very well with dry weather, light traffic and no problems.  We left one day after the first of the month and we think that there was less traffic on the roads and of course, the route we took through central Nevada always seems deserted.

We were on the road for 2 nights and 3 days, arriving home on April 4 to a few snow patches in the yard.

Our friends that look after our place dressed up the penguin that we leave on the front porch over the winter.

We unpacked and over the next few days got to work on the yard.  Our internet and cable were not hooked up until earlier this week, so we had time to get things outside done right away.

We moved 10 roses from the vegetable garden enclosure to a new rose bed between the back of the garage and the big deck.  Stuart used the rototiller to break up the sod and he removed quite a few wheelbarrow loads of mixed dirt and sod.  He dug the holes first based on the planting plan I made last fall and we moved them over one at a time.  They were still mostly dormant, so it was an excellent time for the transplanting.

After the roses were done, we uncovered the greenhouse and I planted the vegetable and flower seeds, being careful not to start too many this year.  It has been cool at nights and it might slow down the germination.  In the garden, I planted the peas first and then did the spinach, lettuce, swiss chard, kale and radishes.  I made up seed tapes this year, so the planting process was very quick.  The rest of the seeds will get planted when the weather warms up.

It is great to have all the comforts of home and to see our friends again.

Blessed no matter where we are!!

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
