THE BIG MOVE

We finally reached the end of the waiting time to finalize the purchase of our new lot.  It was an interesting process, we learned a lot and we are glad that it went very smoothly.  We took possession late on Feb 28 and started moving shed items from the rental to our new lot on Mar 2.

We were blessed to have friends help us with the move so we used 2 trucks and the golf cart to get it done.  Yes, we’ve acquired “stuff” that is both useful now and will likely be in the future.  There is plenty of storage room in the upper floor of the shed, and next year we plan to set up shelves to organize it better.  The ceiling height in the upper floor is about 5’ 2’’ so I can stand up there.

On Monday, Mar 4 we moved the RV, and that too, was an interesting process.  The previous owner left his RV on the lot until then and again, our good friends helped by towing that RV over to our rental lot while we brought our RV here.  In between the moves, the previous owner pressure washed the lot which was a nice thing.

Stuart did a good job of backing the trailer into the tight space with guidance from a couple of new neighbours and myself.  It took a while but he got it in place with no problems.  Before the move, we had taken the louvred panels at the back of the parking area off so we’d have more room at the back of the RV parking area.  As it turned out, we needed to be further back in the space for the front screen to drop down and now we don’t have to move any posts for our doorway.

We were set up in a couple of hours, again with help from friends and food from neighbours.  Such a blessing.  Tuesday was a busy day getting things setup outside and putting together storage cabinets.  Fun to be working on projects that make life easier.

By Wednesday, we were freed up to resume with our recreation but continued to work in the afternoons.  It is all looking very good and we only have a few more things to do this season.  Today, the guys are going to mount one of the louvred panels above the outside kitchen area and then next week, we’ll have an angled louvre put up over the back of the RV.
Happy times at Happy Trails!!

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
