ESCAPING FROM CALIFORNIA

Well, our last two days at Newport Beach were rainy with the worst weather on the last day.  We woke up to heavy rain and it continued all morning and again later in the day.  There was flooding in Laguna Beach—good thing we took our trip there when it was drier.

We headed home on Friday and drove north and east through various cities, one of them being Riverside.  The traffic was heavy all the way, worse in the lanes coming towards us.  Sure glad we don’t live in that environment.

It took us about 2 hours to get to Palm Springs where we stopped to visit with friends of ours from home.  They have a nice RV lot in a large resort and showed us all the improvements they had made to their lot and RV.

More wind turbines in Palm Springs

Back on the interstate again and the traffic was heavy all the way to Phoenix.  It was the start of a long weekend in the US, I guess people were getting an early start.

It was good to get “home” and settled in again.  The weather improved somewhat in that it was sunnier, but we had cold nights, down to -1 C on Tuesday.  Yesterday, we had a big rain, thunder and hailstorm at noon and there was enough hail slush on the roads to look like snow.

Definitely the coldest winter we’ve spent in Arizona.  Looking forward to warmer days soon.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
