MORE PROJECTS

As always, we found a few more projects to keep us busy in the afternoons.  The first one was the replacement of the kitchen faucet in the RV.  We’ve had the RV for 9 years and the original faucet was getting hard to turn and the aerator wasn’t putting out a good spray.  We ordered a new faucet on Ebay and it arrived within about 2 days.  Very quick.

We worked together on the removal of the old faucet with me being the one under the sink as there isn’t much room to work.  The old one came out easily and the new one went into place with no problems.  Stuart had purchased shut off valves for the water supply lines supply as there weren’t any before.  That made the hook-up quick and easy.

The new faucet is beautiful and very functional. It is all chrome, brass and ceramic.

The second project took longer from start to finish and was a lot of fun.  The small fridge in the shed is only 2.5 feet high so it is awkward to see what’s on the shelves, especially in the bottom drawer.  We decided to build a free standing 2’ by 2’ shelf unit to put under the fridge.

We started with purchasing a 4’ by 8’ particle board sheet from Home Depot and they cut all the pieces to the sizes that we specified, all included in the purchase price.  Next, I painted all the pieces using leftover paint from the kitchen cupboards.  I just love painting!!

A few days after the painting, we assembled the shelf unit with screws (not glue) in case we need to disassemble it someday.  Stuart used his new drill and did an excellent job of pre-drillings and counter sinking the screws.

Once we put the fridge on the shelf, we decided that the door should open from right to left as there is better access from that side.  So, off with the door, switch the hardware and put it back on in the new position.  It is so much more functional now and we have room on the shelves for other items.

The last little project was with the other small fridge that is in the outside kitchen.  The door wasn’t closing properly unless it was lifted up so we emptied the fridge and put it up on the countertop.  Stuart took the door off, adjusted it and put it back.  It works like a dream now.

The weather continues to stay warm we are still golfing once per week.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
