CHRISTMAS SECOND SATURDAY

We volunteered for the Christmas Second Saturday at our local church and it was a very successful event.  As usual, the church members purchase socks, shoes, underwear and toys for boys and girls of all ages.  The gifts get set out on tables and the children of families in need get to pick from each category.

In addition, the families get a presentation of the Christmas story (the birth of Jesus) before they start shopping.  After that, the kids had 5 bouncy castles to play in and everyone was given a hot dog lunch.  On the way out, each family was given a grocery bag of food to take home.

It started at 7:30 and it was a cold morning (like 2 C, can you believe it?).  We dressed warmly but then I ended up working inside filling grocery bags.  Stuart was a floater and moved around to different areas to help organize things and solve problems.

There were 1800 children who received the gifts and 800 grocery bags were handed out.  We just love being a part of this event!!

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
