Earlier this week we took a trip to Nelson and Creston and
came back the next day. We did some
shopping in Nelson and looked around at the lakefront park before going to a
doctor’s appointment.
We arrived early
and were done early so we headed north to catch the Kootenay Lake ferry, not
sure of the schedule. As it turned out,
we arrived at the Balfour terminal and the boarding light was still green so we
drove onto the ferry and as soon as we parked, they lifted the rear gate and we
got underway. How’s that for amazing
timing?
The ride across was beautiful with warm weather and smooth
sailing. No matter how many times we
take the ferry, we love the journey.
We spent the night in Creston and visited with my
brother. While we were there, we went to
the local asparagus farm and bought 4.5 lbs to take home.
The farm supplies asparagus to the local area
as well as the neighbouring communities.
We can buy it at one of our local grocery stores in Grand Forks.
This is the harvesting process.
Would you like to have that picking job?
Here is the sorting process.
The fresh asparagus from the farm is definitely more
flavourful.
Now we’re back to home projects like swapping out the home
theatre centre speakers and modifying the TV stand. We had to get a new sub woofer and it was
delivered within 2 days of the online order.
Way to go, Canada Post!
The garden has been planted and most of the seeds have
sprouted. With warm weather here now,
they should flourish.
