A couple of weeks ago, our granddaughter was married in a
lovely outdoor setting at her parents’ place in Aldergrove. The weather was good with clouds in the
morning and some light showers later in the day, after the ceremony was
finished. The bride was glowing in her
beautiful gown and the groom was beaming.
The dinner and the dance were at the Murrayville Hall in
Langley and the sun was out for the rest of the day. It was a good time to catch up with relatives
and friends that we haven’t seen for a while.
The happy couple went to Vancouver Island for their honeymoon and will
be moving to the Victoria area later this month.
We spent a couple of days at the coast and were home again
on the Monday following the wedding. All
was well at home but the garden needed some tending along with the lawn and
flowers.
Earlier this spring, Stuart bought new tires for the
motorcycle and was waiting for an appointment at the local shop to get them put
on. However, they are so busy at the
shop that Stuart decided to do the work himself. He started with the front tire which was the
easier one and we did well getting the front of the bike up on blocks.
Stuart removed the tire, replaced the tube and got the tire
back on. That sounds very straightforward but it was a lot of work to get the tire off with just pry bars and
screwdrivers. The tire shops have machines
that do the work. After getting the tire
back on, brake calipers on and the electronics connected, he took it for a
short ride to make sure everything worked as expected.
Next step was the back tire which meant the removal of the
saddlebags, seat, fender and exhaust pipes.
A lot more work but a good opportunity to clean everything up.
We got the old tire off and were waiting for
a new tube to be delivered. The back
tube has a 90 degree valve stem which wasn’t in stock and then we heard that
it was back ordered. Stuart decided not
to wait for it so we just used the old tube with the new tire. There are only 13,000 km on the bike so the
tube didn’t really need to be replaced.
The wheel is back on the bike now and he just needs to put the fender,
saddlebags and pipes back on.
Meanwhile, we’re playing golf and working on outdoor
projects at home. Staining the sections
of fence by the garden and west side are on the to do list, hopefully tomorrow
morning if it is calm. We don’t want the
spray going all over the place, especially on the garden plants. We’ve been picking strawberries, radishes and
will have our first zucchini in a few days.
How we love summer!!
