We left home on Oct 29 and drove south to Spokane and then
east and south again to Dillon, Montana.
The weather was good, the traffic moderate and the scenery was great
along the way. Through the Bitterroot
Mountain Range between Idaho and Montana, the larch trees had turned gold and made
a lovely contrast to the evergreens.
There was a travel centre at St. Regis that advertised
huckleberry shakes so we decided to stop for a treat. They have a huge retail store with so many
items that it would take hours to look at everything. The specialty items were huckleberry
products, though, as that part of Montana is “famous” for wild huckleberries.

Our second day was good as well and we found an alternate
route (highway 215) through part of Salt Lake City and it had much less traffic
than I-15. It was a Sunday so we assume
that the traffic was lighter than weekdays.
We spent that night in Beaver, Utah.
Not much in the small town but a decent place for a night.

The next day we decided to drive the rest of the way to
Surprise and stayed in a motel a couple of miles from our RV resort. The price was reasonable and it was good to
be close to our place for the big moving day on Nov. 1.
We checked in to our new lot early in the morning and
unloaded some of our stuff. The lot
looked good with many things different from the old lot. It faces west rather than east, the RV is not
under a roof but the rest of the lot is covered; the shed is closer to the road
with a set of double doors as well as a single door and has a larger fridge
inside as well as a bathroom. Pictures
are best to show the features.
Our new lot
After the initial unload, we went to the old lot and said
“Hi” to all the neighbours and started sorting things out. We had to get the golf cart charged up and
get the water buckets out of the RV and get everything secured for the
move. We had a lot of stuff in the shed
and started packing it into the back of the truck. We made 3 trips with stuff (yes, we
discovered that we had too much) and just after lunch, were ready to move the
RV.
We got it hooked up on the first try and then Stuart was
able to back it in to the new lot without any major problems. The last thing we had to move was the set of
stairs and fortunately, a neighbor helped Stuart lift them on to the back of
the truck.
We worked hard that first day to get as much set up as
possible and were very tired. Hard to
stop working when there is so much to do.
We lived with this “mess” for a couple of days.
