WALKWAY TO THE GARDEN

We made it out to Christina Lake for a boating trip and it was beautiful.  The lake level is not very high and there wasn’t much debris floating on the surface.  We fished for a couple of hours and caught one little trout that we released.  Nice to be out there with very few boats around us.  We also took the motorcycle out for a short run a while ago and it was good to be on the bike again.

We worked on a walkway through the new landscaped area to the garden gate and used the edging stones that we bought in Kelowna.  Stuart set them in place along the edges and trimmed 2 to fit at the end of the rows.

I put down landscape fabric between the stones and then we covered it with black slag.

The grey and the black look very nice together.

The garden is growing, the flowers in pots are blooming and the lawn is green.  What’s not to like about spring?  It looks like the finches are moving into the birdhouse abandoned by the chickadees.  The new tenants spent a couple of hours cleaning out the old contents and then started packing in their own.  I wonder how much of the old stuff they picked up off the ground and used again.

Next week, we’re headed to Kootenay Lake with the boat for a few days of fishing and a visit with my brother in Creston.  Should have some interesting things to share in the next post.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
