THIS AND THAT

My knee surgery in Trail went ahead on schedule and my recovery has been going well.  The incisions are very small and were done with dissolving stitches so they are pretty much healed.  My knee feels better inside and even though it is still swollen, I am able to do so many more things and enjoying being outdoors.  I see the surgeon for a check-up later this week and expect a good report from him.

Stuart has been busy with building shelves again, this time in the shop.  He added a small section to our existing shelves for storing fertilizers, pesticides and garden products.

We’ve been waiting for fence/deck stain to come on sale before painting some fence sections but finally decided to just go ahead with the priority ones.  Again, Stuart used the sprayer and got the job done in just a couple of hours.  I did help a bit by brushing in a few sections that were hard to reach but for the most part, it was his job.  Sure looks good.

We have the garden tilled and the rows marked out, ready for manure and peat in the next few weeks.  It is tempting to want to plant early but we will wait a bit longer.  I did get flowers for the 4 deck pots and 4 hanging baskets.  Making up the flower pots is always a nice job to do and I especially enjoyed doing it this past weekend.

The lawn and yard are looking good and although we have landscape projects lined up, we think it’s time to have some fun.  If the weather holds, we’ll take the boat out on Christina Lake for spring fishing and it will be motorcycle time soon.  Golf will be next on the agenda, probably the first week of May.

The chickadees were very undecided between the 2 bird houses and seemed to settle on the one in the backyard.  They weren’t around for very long and I think they moved out early without paying the rent!!

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
