Even though the weather has been quite nice in the past few
weeks, we’ve been in the shop doing some building projects. In our garage, we’ve been storing patio chair
cushions, hoses and a variety of summer stuff under the stairs and landing to
our house door. And as usual, we’ve used
cardboard boxes as containers.
So Stuart had the brilliant idea to build a large “drawer”
on castors that can be easily pushed and pulled under the landing. He designed and built it out of MDF (our “go
to” material), put 4 castors on it and then I painted the usual 3 coats.
Because it sits under the landing that is built of deck
boards with spaces, dirt and debris fall through to whatever is
underneath. So we attached a cardboard
lid to the drawer that can easily fold back out of the way. It sure looks a lot neater.
We decided to purchase a new TV this spring as our 13 year
old one is is starting to show its age.
After much research and waiting for a good price, we secured a good deal
on one from Visions in Kelowna and picked it up this past weekend. It is a 65” Samsung with 4K SUHD and is a
great improvement.
Now the TV did not come with a stand so we had another
building project. The design needed to
accommodate the home theater center speakers and components for the TV and the
home theatre sound system and be an appropriate height and width for the
TV. Again, Stuart designed and built it
to meet our needs. This time, he spray
painted it using black furniture paint so I didn’t’ have to do anything on that
project. Hmm. I might get replaced by a paint
sprayer!! Anyway, the stand is very
functional and looks as good as an Ikea product.
I planted peas about 10 days ago and am waiting for them to
sprout up. Hopefully, the weather has
been warm enough. I’m pleased to see
that the chickadees have set up house in one of our bird houses—not the one
that they were originally checking out, though.
This one is at the front of the house in a fir tree and is more hidden
than the other one.
Good news to share about my knee. I got the call last week for arthroscopic
surgery on April 8 in Trail and am looking forward to getting it done. It is earlier than we hoped for and it will
be nice to work on recovery before too much of the golf season has passed.
Happy spring to you.
