HERMAN’S HERMITS

Happy Trails resorts brings in entertainment a couple of times a month during the winter and this was our first time attending one of the events.  We hadn’t been interested in many of the attractions but when we found out that Herman’s Hermits featuring Peter Noone (Herman, the lead singer) would be here, we purchased tickets for the late afternoon show.

There are usually 2 shows per event, one at 4 p.m. and one at 7 p.m.

Well, it certainly was worthwhile and we really enjoyed the performance.  They opened the show with a local comedian who was quite good—always a challenge to make an audience laugh.  Most of the 200+ people in the audience were fans of Herman’s Hermits but the couple beside me didn’t know who they were, they just bought tickets for something to do.

The performance was a mix of their original hits (Mrs. Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter and Henry the 8th) but they also did other songs from the mid 1960’s.  In addition to the songs, Peter Noone told some funny stories, did some imitations (Johnny Cash, Tom Jones and Mick Jagger) and interacted with the audience.  People clapped and sang along with the favourites and had a really good time.

It brought back memories for both us as we were just getting interested in popular music back in those days.  A blast from the past. Some of their hits:

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
