IT’S THANKSGIVING AGAIN

We’re establishing a routine after being here a couple of weeks and are feeling more comfortable with our surroundings.  The first few weeks in a new location are always emotionally challenging and we go through periods of homesickness.  We don’t miss the rain, snow and cool temperatures, though.

MEMORY PARK

Pickleball is good and we are playing about 4 days a week, only for a couple of hours in the mornings.  We get our exercise before lunch and then have the rest of the day to go shopping, bike riding, reading, playing pool and generally just hanging around.

Our neighbourhood has a tradition of Happy Hour every day from 4 to 5 p.m. and the location changes from day to day.  The attendance is usually 20 to 30 people, mostly lot owners and mostly US citizens.  We've attended a couple of times and have been invited to their Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon.  It should be interesting as the Happy Hours are always segregated—the men only sit with the men and the women only sit with the women—but maybe they’ll allow couples to sit together for the meal.  I’ll let you know how it goes.

Here are photos of the main areas in the resort so you can get a better idea of our environment.

We’re not venturing out on Black Friday—too crazy busy for us.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
