YOU WICKED WABBIT!!

So if you've been reading my blog over the years, you’ll know that I've had some battles at home in Grand Forks, with deer eating my plants and shrubs.  Well, I think those deer have sent a message about me to the wildlife here in Yuma.  Perhaps the hummingbirds were the messengers?  This could be the culprit at our feeder behind the trailer:

Anyway, I made up a pot of beautiful purple petunias to set on the front patio and they were thriving in the warm sunshine.  I was waiting until they were in full bloom before taking any photos to post on the blog to cheer those of you suffering through the snowy and stormy winter.  Then a couple of days ago, I looked out in the morning and saw that all the blossoms were gone.  What was going on?  Sure enough, the little rabbits that hang out here in resort had found my flowers and eaten all the blossoms and chewed most of the leaves.  Here’s what they left:

Now I put the pot up on a table each night and hope that the plants recover.  No one else’s flower pots appear to be affected— I am sure it is a conspiracy against me!!

Our lives are settling into a routine now where we are playing pickleball on a regular basis and are seeing more friends from last year each time we go out to play.  We’re also playing golf once a week and the new clubs are working well.  Yesterday, we were out by ourselves (it was US Thanksgiving so not very busy) and had a great time.  The courses will get busier in the next few months as more winter visitors arrive.

One tradition that we’ve established when living in the RV is to listen to audio books while we eat supper.  We’ve listened to about 5 books in the past year or so, with the latest one being Robinson Crusoe.  It’s one of those stories that many people don’t know very well other than a guy gets shipwrecked and has a faithful servant named Friday.  It’s full of adventure and interesting personal revelations as Robinson learns to live independently on his island for over 27 years.  He fared much better than Tom Hanks in Castaway! And Friday had much more personality than Wilson.

Today is Black Friday, the major US shopping day so lots of people are out hoping to get some good deals.  We may venture out to the big stores later today if we are brave.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
