WHAT ARE WE UP TO NOW?

Well, we've been here in Yuma for 2 weeks now and it feels very much like home.  We really like the site that we’re in this year as we get sun on our patio and in our windows from mid-morning to late afternoon.

At this time of year, it’s great to have the extra warmth during the day.  The temperatures have been cooler than normal so far with lows down to 10 and 11C and highs up to 21 or 22.  We've had rain storms twice and this morning there was a heavy dew that created fog for the first few hours of the day.

Last week, we went to Los Algodones, Mexico again for dental work.  We only had cleanings done this time ($30 each) so it was a short stay south of the border.  However, we purchased a beautiful painted metal wall art piece featuring a roadrunner, cactus and the sun.  Of course, Stuart bargained for it and we got it at a good price.  Back at home, we found a good place to display it outside the trailer.  See how good it looks on our new stairs?

During the summer, we decided that we wanted a sturdy set of stairs for the RV and Stuart built a set using some of the scrap wood from our fence project and 3/4 of a sheet of plywood.  The stairs can be dismantled into flat sections that were easy to haul in the back of the truck under the hitch.  Not many RV’s have fancy stairs like ours.

When we were riding our bikes around the resort, we saw a couple of bike stands made out of PVC pipe and Stuart decided he’d like to make one for us.  He researched some plans on the internet and adapted one plan to accommodate just 2 bikes.  Here are some photos.

We’re back playing pickleball and there is a small group, here at the resort, which plays together on the tennis courts.  We have one court marked with pickleball lines and are hoping that if we get more players, the resort will paint lines on the other court.  It’s nice to play outside if the wind isn’t too strong.  We have gone to the indoor courts at a local recreation centre to play as well.  We met people who played there last year and it’s like a reunion.  Each day more RV’s come rolling into Yuma and we may see many old friends in the next while.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
