ARIZONA SNOW

Our first week here at Palm Creek has been great, full of activities and we are enjoying the weather and the amenities at the resort.  We’re getting our daily exercise with walks to the showers, laundry, billiards and the bike rides to the swimming pools.  The resort, which has 1888 sites, is still about one third full and not very busy yet so we are mostly alone in the billiards room as you can see.  We play a few games each evening and we are improving our skills.

The days have continued to be warm and the evenings are cooling down somewhat but are still warm enough for wearing shorts and T-shirts.  We are on Arizona time and didn’t have to turn our clocks back for Daylight Savings Time (yay!!) so we get sunrise at about 7 a.m. and sunset around 5:30 p.m.  Although we’ve had mostly sunny days, it does get slightly cloudy around here which is great for beautiful sunset photos.  This one is from our site.

Today, we golfed at the Tierra Grande course that we played in a big wind last March and it was so much more pleasant this time.  It was our first full 18 holes of golf since last May and we were tired at the end of the round.  The course is flat but there are long distances from greens to the next tees—lots of walking and the clubs get heavy by the last hole.

While we were out, we saw more cotton fields (looks like Arizona snow) and got some better photos to share with you.  It’s harvest time now so we have before and after photos as well as the cotton stacked up ready to be hauled to the gin.  They are called modules and are about 12 feet high and 8 feet wide—just about the size of our trailer. Each module is made up of 13 to 15 bales and looks like a large loaf of bread.

We are all settled in and comfortable with this lifestyle—no shortage of things to do each day.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
