GORGEOUS FALL WEATHER

What an amazing fall we are having!  The days are sunny and warm, up to 20 degrees in the afternoons and not colder than 4 or 5 degrees at night.  The leaves on the trees are changing colour and some have already fallen off but other trees are still hanging in with their green foliage.

We had a great visit with our friends last week and went out to play golf again at the par 3 course.  It is still lush and green, not too busy and had a resident deer laying in the shade of one of the fairway trees.  We think we’ve won the battle in our yard with the deer, as they haven’t browsed anymore of our shrubs and plants since we put up the wire fencing.

Not too many projects on the go these days other than starting to prepare both the trailer and the house for the trip south.  Stuart cleaned up the bicycles and lubricated all the gears—much nicer to do at home where he has all the right tools.  He also built a wind screen for the portable BBQ and it turned out really well.  He had constructed a prototype from cardboard on our last trip and used that pattern to create a more solid one out of lightweight wood.  They do sell wind screens made out of metal but they cost $75 and he built this one for $7.  Yes, we are thrifty retirees!!

FOLDED DOWN

Yesterday, we had lunch with friends from our working days and it was nice not to have to rush back to work or somewhere else afterwards.  Today looks sunny and clear so we’re planning a motorcycle ride this afternoon.  Ah, the good life.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
