SEASONAL CHANGES

Sept 2/10

Another great week has gone by quickly and we’ve made a subtle shift from hot summer days and nights to cooler ones with a hint of autumn in the air.  We had a day and a half of rain earlier this week that was refreshing in some ways but also a shock to the system.  We had to find some warmer clothes to wear and decided to test out the furnace to make sure that it works properly.  We’re also finding out which light switches control certain areas, something that we didn’t need to use when we first moved in.

We’re whittling down the “to do” list and are finding more time for rest and relaxation.  The accomplishments this past week include weed killer on the lawn, Protect All coating on the outside of the trailer, paint touch ups on the baseboards and around the deck door trim.  New paint always makes things look fresh and new.

BACK DOOR TO DECK

DEAD WEED

As fall approaches, we are making plans for our first official Snowbird trip south for the winter.  Based on our travel experiences last year, we’ve made reservations to stay at Palm Creek RV Resort in Casa Grande, AZ for November and December.  We stayed there for 2 weeks in April and really liked the resort as well as the town.  For January, February and March, we plan to move west to Yuma, AZ which is normally the warmest place in Arizona and the sunniest place in the US in the winter.  We’ve made reservations at The Palms RV Resort (not much variation in resort names down there) even though we haven’t stayed there before.  We did stop in and have a look at the resort last year and it has beautifully landscaped areas, pool, spa, tennis courts, games rooms, activities, etc.  It’s exciting to make the reservations as it is now a commitment to make the trip in less than 2 months.  Wow!  The time sure has been flying.

We’ve also made arrangements with a local security company to check our house for us twice a week while we are gone and that has been a relief.  We certainly don’t want to go away and be concerned about the house and things we are leaving behind.

Writing the blog is something that I look forward to each week and it’s nice to know that friends and family are reading it and keeping up with what’s going on in our lives.  However, we don’t hear much back from you readers and would like to know what’s going on with you, too.  One easy way you can share back with us is to post a short comment on the blog if you have a Goggle Account, or if you have more time, send us an e-mail.  The blog comment can be made by clicking on “# comments” at the bottom of the latest posting.  It takes you to another screen with a white box for typing in your comment then choose Google for your "comment as" profile and then click on “Post Comment” when you’re done.  We’d love to hear from you!!

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
