STILL WORKING ON THINGS

The list of things to do here is getting shorter as we are knocking off the more important projects.  Some of them we had planned, some were unexpected.

In the outside kitchen, we added 2 upper cabinets—one above the oven and one in the right corner.  We painted the new and old cabinets grey and really like the contrast with the appliances, countertop and backsplash.  Stuart changed the lighting and added an LED under cabinet light on the right.

When we had heavy rains, the shed doors would get wet and swell and there was even water inside the doors once.  One day when we went to the dumpsters, we saw a couple of guys discarding old awning sections so we brought them home to re-use.  Stuart cut them to length, I painted them grey and we installed them over the shed doors.  Now it keeps some of the rain out and will provide more shade in the hot weather.  Stuart had to do some work trimming the door so it wouldn’t bind.  We’ll probably need to get new doors next year.

When we purchased our golf cart last year, it came with a golf club rack that we didn’t need.  We left it as is and used buckets for hauling things to recycle.  Not very convenient.  A few days ago, Stuart found a good used golf cart “trunk” on eBay and we made a deal with the seller to swap the golf club rack for the trunk.  We had to drive to Scottsdale on Saturday to pick it up so that was a nice outing.  The trunk should be much more useful and it certainly looks better.

All else is good.  We’re decorated for Christmas and have a ham in the fridge—no turkey this time.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
