Christmas is over, the new year has arrived and time keeps
marching on. Things were fairly quiet around
here and will start getting busier as many folks come for January through the
end of March. We have new neighbours on
one side of us now but haven’t seen them around very much.
TANGELO TREE AT THE CORNER OF OUR LOT
My physio therapy is going well and I’m walking without a
brace or cane and am able to use my arm more and more each day. I am still not allowed to lift anything heavy
and don’t have full range of motion but that will come. I get final x-rays on January 16 to assess
the healing and hopefully, I will get clearance to start lifting weights.
Stuart has been busy with maintenance projects around
here. There is a check valve on the RV
black water clean out system that started leaking so we had to first find the
problem and then fix it. Fortunately,
the valve was on the water line behind the shower taps and was reasonably easy
to remove. Rather than purchase a new
one at $50, Stuart went to Ace Hardware and put together a replacement unit
that does the job for way less money.
On our lot, we have a plastic laundry tub outside the shed
and it had been disintegrating from the heat and falling to pieces. Stuart offered to replace the tub if the lot
owner would buy a new one and just before Christmas, we received a note saying
the new tub was in and ready to be picked up.
So the job got stretched out over a number of days because that’s the
way retired people do things. The old
tub came out in pieces.
The new tub was put together and needed an extension on the
drain to line up properly with the drain pipe coming out of the wall. It also need blocking attached to shed wall
to hold it firmly in place.
The weather has been cool the past few days with rain on
the weekend so outside activities have been reduced. Stuart has been playing billiards again and I’ve
been going to the fitness room to use the stationary bike. Here’s a section of the church parking lot on Sunday.
Last Thursday, we went to the cinema to see “The Passengers”
and it turned out to be a great movie.
We went to a new Harkins Theatre south of here in Goodyear that has full
recliner seats. We were in one of the
smaller theatres that had 8 rows with 12 seats per row. Plenty of room to walk between rows with the
seats fully reclined. You could easily
fall asleep there, just like at home.
The large Imax theatre is supposed to be spectacular with a 80 foot wide
screen and we may go there if a really special movie comes up in the next few
months.
So we’re getting back into a regular routine. Stuart will be playing pickleball a few times
a week and I will continue my rehab. It
feels so wonderful to be able to walk around and do things for myself. Praise the Lord.
