Well, it’s that time of year for us to put things away for the winter
and get ready to head south to Arizona.
The assessment of my knee is that it is “not unhealthy” but requires a
significant amount of rehabilitation to get strong again. I am on a physiotherapy program that is
working and have been seeing improvement in the past week. It will take time, but I can do all my exercises
in Arizona as well as I can here.
Stuart has pulled the garden plants except for the carrots and done the final
tilling. It is always a bit sad to see
all the plants gone. We still have a few
pots of flowers blooming which is amazing for this time of year. It has been very warm and sunny and we have
spent time on the deck in the afternoons.
We blew out the irrigation system last week and that took almost 3
hours. We are very meticulous with it as
we don’t want frozen and broken pipes and have been successful in the past 2
years. Stuart has winterized the boat,
the mowers, tiller, pressure washer, etc. and has done the pre-trip inspection
on the truck. Our list of things to do
is quite extensive but manageable if we do a few things every day.
Stuart has been working most mornings at the church this week putting up
the sound absorption panels that he and another fellow built. He is enjoying the work and wishes that he
could finish the job before we go.
However, there isn’t enough material to do that so the guys here will
have to complete it after we leave.
Last weekend, we went to the Lower Mainland for our niece’s wedding and
Stuart was the MC at the reception. The
ceremony was in an old chapel in Langley—lots of character but cold
inside. The dinner was at the Fort
Langley Golf Course and they served an excellent buffet. Stuart had the group laughing a lot with his
witty comments and everyone enjoyed themselves.
The happy couple are now on their honeymoon in Hawaii.
So, that’s about it from here for this season. Next post will be from somewhere south.
