THE SEASON OF ROAD TRIPS

We’ve done quite a bit of travelling in the past few weeks which is unusual for us.  We had to make 2 trips to Kelowna, about 10 days apart so we are getting very familiar with the roads.  We took highway 33 through Beaverdell, as it is the shortest route, and had to contend with a seal coating project that caused delays and rough surfaces for driving.  The first time through, we chose to drive back through Penticton and Osoyoos to avoid the construction.  The route through the Okanagan valley is always a pretty drive and we stopped to get cherries at a fruit stand.  The second time (just yesterday), we were able to travel both ways on highway 33 as they had completed the seal coating.

In between the Kelowna trips, we drove to the Lower Mainland to visit with Stuart’s family.  We were away for 4 days and worked our way from Abbotsford to east Vancouver and Yaletown and back to Coquitlam.

COMMERCIAL DRIVE - VANCOUVER

This was our first time crossing the new Port Mann bridge and it was impressive to see and the traffic flow was better than what we remembered on the old bridge.

It was great to see all the family again and spend time together.  Definitely a busy trip with all the visiting and driving around.  Stuart did some plumbing work for his sister and that included a couple of trips to the nearest (not really that near) Home Depot.  It is so different from our quiet rural life here. No Home Depot, but we have a Home Hardware Building Center five minutes away.

The weather is heating up again for the weekend and everything is still growing well.  Having automatic sprinklers is a must for these conditions.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
