AROUND THE LOT

The shed doors on the lot that we rent have faded over the years so I asked our landlords if I could paint them sometime.  Here’s the before picture.

They supplied the paint and tools for the job and I worked on it for about 4 hours last Saturday.  Stuart removed the door hardware and metal edging strips which made the painting much easier.  The paint I used was a primer and paint combination and all I needed to do was the 2 colour coats.

The paint dried very fast with the low humidity here and I was able to get the second coat done in the afternoon.  Don’t they look good?

There is a huge banana tree at the back corner of our lot and it is very interesting to watch the bananas develop.  This is what they look like now.

It has been cloudy the past few days which moderates the temperature so it’s not so cold at night and not as warm during the day.  We had 15 C this morning but only expect a high of 19 C.  The clouds in the sky certainly promote a beautiful sunrise.

We have completed our Christmas shopping already and have done 99% of it online.  How nice is that?  You can take your time to search for items at good prices and we are able to take advantage of free shipping in most cases.  Now we just wait for the deliveries either by courier or at the post office, no need to go to a crowded shopping mall anymore.

Yesterday, we went to see the movie “Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” and it was very good.  We’ve read the books and are enjoying the movies as they are well done and closely follow the original story.  So nice to be able to go to a morning show and only pay $11.50 for the 2 of us.

Everyone is gearing up for Christmas and we will be getting our lights and trees up around the 15th.  We still send out some Christmas cards with a letter so that is a task for later this week.  It will be fun.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
