YARD SALE MANIA

I’m back into pickleball again and we’re doing our best to play 4 times a week.  The weather has turned cold so playing in the early part of the morning is challenging and the plastic balls tend to break more quickly when it’s cold.  There are some afternoon groups that we can join but we always enjoy the casual round robin play in the mornings.

As soon as Thanksgiving is over down here, everyone puts up their Christmas decorations and starts celebrating the season.  The other night, there was a decorated golf cart parade through the resort and some of them were brightly lit with snowmen, reindeers and other Christmas characters riding on the back of the carts.  Nice to see that “older folks” can have fun like kids.

On Saturday, we had the first of two yard sales in the resort.  One half of the resort goes on the first Saturday and the second half on the second Saturday.  We rode our bikes around to have a look and to chat with people who were buying and selling stuff.  It is a very social event and there are also some good deals.

We found a beautiful oak end table that probably cost over $130 originally and bought it for $5.  It doesn’t even have any marks on it!!

We had to walk back to the site to pick up the table and along the way, Stuart bought a cordless Ryobi screwdriver with lithium batteries for $5 as well.  Such a deal and the people were handing out homemade cookies, too.

Here are some photos of the yard sale:

Since it gets cool in the RV at nights, we decided to purchase a small area rug for the living room for extra insulation.  We found this one for $30 at a Ross store.  Another excellent deal.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
