BACK AT IT

It’s hard to believe that we've been home for almost 3 weeks and the variety of activities we’ve been involved in.  The weather was nice earlier in the month so we went out to Christina Lake for a round of golf.  It was nice to be able to play on very green grass and have green trees along the fairway and on the mountains—no desert washes to capture your golf ball.

Then we had a winter-like weekend with snow both mornings so we didn't venture out very far until it melted.

Stuart was anxious to build something after the winter of recreation and designed and built a storage unit for our golf bags and shoes.  It sits on the wall in the garage, partially supported on the lip of the foundation and is a wonderful idea.

Last week’s weather was a bit warmer and we played pickleball one afternoon, really enjoying the exercise.  The dynamics are so different between playing here on modified tennis courts and playing at Happy Trails, but the game itself is still a lot of fun.  We are hoping to introduce some of our other friends to the game so that we have more variety in players.

At home, we got the boat out of our shop and took it to a Christina Lake business for some maintenance work and other servicing.  It’s a good time of year to do that—not too busy with tourists and still a bit early for fishing.  We should have it back this week.

In the yard, we transplanted more shrubs, moving them from the west side of the house to an area behind the shop.  They will have more room to grow there, and hopefully the deer won’t be interested in them over there.  It seems like the deer haven’t been in our yard as much this winter, perhaps our new neighbour’s dog is scaring them away.  The dog doesn't bark but he is as big as a Shetland pony.

This is the new shrub area in progress.  It will eventually have bark mulch in between the plants and we are planning to build a wooden fence at the east end of the property.  Not sure when we’ll get started on that as we’d like to get out and play more golf before the busy summer season.  There are so many things to enjoy here at home.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
