Winter
has arrived in Arizona and we’re experiencing the coldest temperatures in about
25 years. The night time lows have been
down to 25 F (-4 C) and day time highs of 45 F (7 C) for the past few
days. We've had to cover our water pipes
to keep them from freezing and have switched to our winter water hose. When we lived in the RV in November 2009, we
wrapped a water hose with heat tape and foam insulation but hadn't needed it
for a few years. It was sure nice to be
able to hook it up a few days ago and know that we’d have water no matter how
cold it was at night.
These
are photos of our covered pipes:
These
are photos of covered plants around the neighbourhood. The citrus trees are ready for harvest so
they are very vulnerable to the cold.
Although
it is cold, it is sunny and we've been able to get outdoors to play some
pickleball and go for walks. Early
mornings are too cool for much so we’re planning to go see a movie tomorrow
morning. The really cold weather should
be on its way out by Wednesday and we can get back to more comfortable
temperatures. At least we don’t have
snow in this part of the state!!
Beautiful
sunrise last week.
