THE GARDEN IS GROWING

In spite of all the rain in June and various thunderstorms (and hail) in early July, our garden is growing and looking healthy.  We've harvested plenty of lettuce, spinach, all the radishes and are working on the carrots.  We are thinning them every few days and get enough small carrots for snacks.  The peas are getting ripe and we’re planning the first major picking tomorrow.  Here are some garden photos:

We’ve been playing golf a couple of times a week and have been out fishing on both Christina Lake with the big boat, and Jewel Lake with the inflatable boat.  We caught 3 trout at Jewel Lake and they made a nice supper.  No fish pictures this time as they weren’t really big, but here are a couple of Jewel Lake shots from our boat.

Around home, we’re doing small projects and I’ve finished painting all the outside doors to the house and shop.  They are now one colour and we no longer have a RED front door.

Stuart took our dining table out of the RV and changed the base.  It was a pedestal base that took up room and was difficult to clean around so he built a 4 legged base that provides much more leg room.  He also refinished the top with a satin finish and it looks nice and will also be easier to clean.

The other thing we’ve done in the past couple of weeks is play PICKLEBALL!  Yes, here in Grand Forks.  We played our first time with our pastor and his wife who wanted to learn the game.  They just love it.  Then we played with the local group of about 10 players, all of whom go south for the winter.  Then we played the other morning with a couple that played at the same recreation center as us in Yuma.  Nice to get back into the game.  What do you think of this setting for pickleball?

More golf and pickleball ahead of us in the next few weeks.  Recreation time is here!

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
