SHANIA TWIN SHOW AND WALKING IN THE DESERT

We went to another show  here at The Palms last Friday and the performer was Shania Twin (Donna Huber) from Toronto.  She really looks and sounds like Shania Twain and her performance was totally upbeat and full of energy.  We had seats in the front row on the right hand side of the stage which was great for seeing the details of her costumes and the sound was pretty good up there.  Here are some photos:

WITH THE REAL SHANIA

We occasionally walk in the open desert behind the resort and it’s nice to get away from people, buildings and vehicles.  We took some photos this time so you can get a feel for the Yuma desert.  It doesn’t have the variety of vegetation in the desert east of us (Phoenix/Tucson area) but there is life in the dry, sandy soil.  The area was once covered by ocean so we often find sea shells along the way.

CRITTER HOLE

There are plenty of irrigation canals in the area to water the produce fields north and west of town and the citrus crops east and south of town.  They draw water from the Colorado River which runs north and east of Yuma.

Yesterday for Valentine’s Day, we went to the theatre to see “Chronicle” and then out for supper at Famous Dave’s BBQ.  The movie was all right with most of the action in the last 15 minutes—we prefer action from start to finish.  The meal was great as we like having BBQ down here and the beef brisket was very tender and tasty.  We had dry brisket once in Texas so this was a pleasant surprise.  When we dine out, we get our fill of Mexican food and BBQ, the type of food that we don’t easily get back home.

Speaking of back home, we are 6 weeks away from our departure date.  We’ve already been planning our spring and summer projects and are looking forward to the luxuries of home again.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
