IT NEVER RAINS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

We are on our usual 2 week vacation from our winter vacation and have headed over to southern California.  On Friday, we drove through Yuma on Interstate 8 and it was interesting to see how busy that area is with all the Canadian winter visitors.  Our destination for the first week is Ramona, CA which is just less than an hour north east of San Diego in the boulder mountains.

We are in a 1700 square foot, 2 bedroom condo in a quiet area east of Ramona and it is wonderful to have all that space for living.  The RV does seem a little small after a few months.

The weather has been very wet starting on Saturday with torrential rains in the afternoon.  We drove to nearby Poway for grocery shopping and lunch on Saturday.  It is a much larger city than Ramona so we took advantage of shopping in Costco and Walmart.  The scenery around the area is beautiful and different from many other places we’ve been.  There are boulders and hills everywhere and steep driveways to most of the homes. Not much flat ground.  They probably can’t do any landscaping in their yards without hitting boulders or bedrock.

Yesterday was cloudy and cool and the rains have returned this morning.  Not good for outdoor activities so we are going to see a movie today.  We need to drive to one of the larger cities for theatres and will be going south to El Cajon.  Hopefully, the weather will improve soon and we can do some hiking.  It is supposed to be dry on Wednesday, just 2 days before we move on to the next location.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
