HAVING TOO MUCH FUN

Well, it’s been a long time since I wrote in this blog and my only excuse is that we’ve been having too much fun.  After we recovered from the flooring project, we got back into pickleball, more for Stuart than me.  He is playing 3 or 4 times a week and I started out at once a week.  It’s such a wonderful activity, good exercise and very social.  Now that January is here, the courts are busier and even though we have 14 courts, there are still people waiting.

I also started the tap dancing classes and so far, it’s been fantastic.  We have new dancers so I am working with the instructor to help them learn last year’s routine and then I’m part of the advanced class where we are learning a new and more complicated routine.  In this one, we have both a hat and a cane to manage along with our feet—talk about challenging our coordination.  Our classes are scheduled for once a week (2 hours) but we’ve been doing extra practices because it’s so much fun.

We sure had a cold start to the year with temperatures dropping to 0 C for quite a few nights in a row.  The daytime highs were barely out of the single digits at 8 to 11 degrees so it felt like a mild winter back home.  We had to put the potted plants in the shed and cover the orange tree every night as well as covering our water supply lines and hoses to protect them from the frost.  The truck was frosty also a few mornings.  Saturday night we had rain and then it was cloudy all day yesterday, but the sun is shining today.  The worst of the winter should be over.

Every week, we meet with a small group from our church to talk about the Sunday sermon and everything else that’s going on in our lives.  It’s a great group and we are getting to know each other very well.  It’s a blessing to have friends who will be there for you through the good and bad times.

We’ve seen a couple of movies at the theater and on Netflix.  We highly recommend “Aquaman” and “Bird Box” with Sandra Bullock.  A very different role for her.

Anyway, all is well here and I’ll try to write the next

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
