VEGGIE TALES

A lot has been going on since my last post.  We got our roof repaired a week ago and the job went well.  We hired a local company (husband and wife team) and they did a very professional job.  The new shingles, on about ¼ of one side of the roof, are a better quality than the original ones and are rated for 120 mph wind. There is only a slight difference in colour which is hard to see unless you are studying the roof.

We’ve been golfing a couple of times a week and have been out in the boat twice.  The first time, we had the wheel bearing on the boat trailer seize up and we just made it back home and got it parked with a wobbly wheel.  Stuart was able to put in new bearings after finding a parts supplier out at Christina Lake.  Again, very knowledgeable and helpful people.

It was nice on the lake, not too busy the first time but more tourists this past week.  Tis the boating season.  Both times out, the weather was hot and we went swimming.  The water temperature was 25C halfway up the lake and 23C at the north end of the lake.  Refreshing but not too cold.

The garden is growing and we are harvesting more and more veggies.  I planted some unusual ones this year as well as getting phenomenal growth on others.  Here are some photos:

We’ve been giving away cucumbers already and expect to do the same when the tomatoes ripen.  In the past, we’ve planted only 4 or 5 tomato plants.  This year we have 15!!  I planted extra seeds in the greenhouse in the spring and didn’t have the heart to throw out any of the plants.  I even gave away some plants but will have to restrain myself next year.

It’s a great summer, getting hot but that’s okay.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
