LAST WEEKS AT HAPPY TRAILS

Well, it’s almost that time of year when we are thinking about heading home and making sure we’ve done all the things that we wanted to this winter season.  March has been very warm (except for a rainy day yesterday) and it’s been great to have the windows open all night and the fresh air coming in.  For those with allergies, it has been a struggle as we’ve had more wind than usual and pollen and dust are floating around in the air.

It has been a great winter for the citrus crops in this area and the nicest fruit are the tangelos.  Unfortunately, people don’t give them away very often.  We have access to a grapefruit tree behind our lot and have been eating fresh ones every week since the middle of January.  Here are some photos of the very large grapefruit and lemons.

Last week, various clubs in the park put on an entertainment hour in the ballroom and we had fun watching the skits and dances.  The clowns did lots of skits and jokes:

the line dancers performed 2 dances:

the church group did the song “My God” from the movie “Sister Act”:

and the pickleball club (the largest group) did the “Happy” song and dance by Pharell Williams. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6Sxv-sUYtM

Stuart has been playing pickleball and billiards a few times a week and I’ve been going to the fitness room and the swimming pool for workouts.  My knee is getting better every day and I see the surgeon one last time on Monday.  I am hoping that he will be pleased with my progress.

Our friends from California left for home yesterday, but we were able to have a farewell dinner with them and members from our church small group on Saturday night.  We always have a good time with them and will miss them over the summer.

Next week is busy for us with appointments, a billiards club BBQ and going to the movies one last time.  We are going to see “Insurgent” which is the second movie in a trilogy of books that we read a year ago.

We’re planning to leave on March 31 this year so we can get home on April 2 which is Stuart’s birthday and the day before Good Friday.  We are looking forward to it but enjoying every last minute here.

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
