OUR TRUCK HAS COMPANY

While we were in Arizona planning for the summer season at home, we decided that it would be smart to purchase an economical small car and save our truck for towing the boat and the RV.  Stuart researched a wide variety of cars and after a couple of test drives in Yuma, it seemed like a Hyundai Accent was the best choice for our needs.  The Accent was recently redesigned and it gets excellent fuel mileage at 4 L per 100 km, is powerful enough to climb the mountain passes in our area and has enough storage space for the golf clubs for our trips to Christina Lake Golf Course.

So, we ordered one through the Castlegar Hyundai dealer and it was built in Korea and arrived in Castlegar at the end of March.  We waited for about 10 days after we got home for the snow to melt on the Paulson Summit and then picked up the car last Tuesday.  Here’s what it looks like:

We shared the driving on the way home and are really pleased with the looks, comfort and performance.

Now that we have 2 vehicles, we’ll need a place to park both of them under cover.  Wouldn’t a 2 bay garage be a nice addition to the house?

Our first major inside project this season was painting the guest bedroom.  All the bedrooms downstairs are the same colour and we wanted to add some character to each room.  It took us about 5 days to get it done working at a retirees’ pace.  We hope our friends and family will be pleased to stay in this room:

Living Large Defined

After retiring from the BC Forest Service, selling their home in Kamloops and living at "no fixed address" for 10 months, Linda and Stuart bought a house in Grand Forks. They are now embracing life in this small community as well as Snowbirding south for the winter and are living "larger" than their dreams. This is Linda's blog of their adventures.
